I have been working as a professional printmaker since 1992. My earlier work focused very much on narrative, and in particular, on Newfoundland oral folklore. I have moved away from that direction in my more recent work, but it is still very much centered in an interest in narrative. My prints DO tell a story and that story is largely dependent on audience interaction with the work. I am currently working on a large body of work which will be exhibited in Halifax in September of 2008 and in Hamilton, Ontario in November of 2008. This work is composed of vignettes of the "inner landscape"...images that speak in an attempt to record significant moments by the use of the family photograph. The photograph is the initial departure point of the image and explores the use those images attach to significant emotional and psychological places, historical time and events in our lives. Text is added to the image as evocative directional arrows in the journey.
